Fourth Grade

Students will do a quick review of how a library is set up (fiction, nonfiction, Dewey Decimal System) and then we will move onto using both research and computer skills. They will continue to use the Scholastic Keys which is a student version of Microsoft Office. This will allow students to present their research using a word program, spread sheet or PowerPoint. They will also learn to do regular note cards and bibliographies. This is one of the most important skills they will learn as they need this information when going on to high school and college. In the nnext week or so, we will begin working with almanacs. Students will do their research and then put it together using the new program. I will post assignments periodically so you will know what your child is doing. While students will not receive a grade on their report cards for this class, I will evaluate their work. This relieves a great deal of stress on the younger students who are trying to learn a wide variety of difficult material at the same time.

Students have begun research on their president which will then be put into a PowerPoint presentation. In the process, they will learn how to do note cards and bibliographies as are required for middle school.
