Religion
This year, we will be using a new religion book. It is titled The Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth. While it is geared to 9th graders, it is more in keeping with the level of work we expect from our students in the other subject areas. I am looking forward to using it and the students seemed happy to have a new and more interesting text. The book focuses on 4 major areas: the creed; the sacraments; morality; and prayer. It also includes sections on Catholics signs and symbols,  the saints ,  and  articles dealing with putting one's faith into action.

We also will continue to work with the Catholic Social Teachings and activities will center around the CST of the month. I would like to include the unit on the Civil RIghts Movement that I did with the students last year since it fits right in with the CST and Martin Luther King Day.

Classes have been asked to partner with a local agency as part of our work on the CST. We worked with the Monroe County Humane Association and will continue to do so this year.

Students also will partner with third and fourth graders to help share ideas and activities related to the CST.

Information on projects will be posted as assigned.
